Duplicate, Create or Import a Policy

A policy is what NetScope describes as a collection of rules that define traffic classes and Service Level Agreements (SLA) for the network.

• Select the Policy Manager tab in the top tabbed menu or click on the Policy Manager button if you are in the Policy Editor.

You will be presented with the Policy Manager screen with its command options, the default policy, and at least two example policies (see image). Yellow highlights the policy selected. The icon at (A) indicates the currently activated policy.

To duplicate a policy:

1. Select the policy you want to duplicate
2. Click ‘Duplicate’
3. Select the duplicated policy. It says ‘Copy of -‘ in the Description.
4. Open the duplicated policy. Change the ‘Name’ field. Edit or add classes as in Creating and Editing Traffic Classes.

To create a policy:

1. Click ‘New’.
2. In the following Policy Summary screen change the ‘Name’ of the new policy to your liking (a maximum of 30 alphabetic characters- do not use spaces). One can also edit ‘Created by’ and ‘Description’.  The Label pointed to by (B) will update to the new name when you change tabbed menu item then return back to the Policy Manager tabbed menu item (for Netscope version 2.0.x first click on another traffic class in the left-hand list or click on ‘Check’).

Go to Creating and Editing Traffic Classes to add classes.

To import a policy:

• Click ‘Import. Then select the policy file and click ‘Open’.

1. Click on the imported policy
2. Click ‘Open’

You may like to then change the ‘Name’ of the policy (a maximum of 30 alphabetic characters- do not use spaces). One can also edit ‘Created by’ and ‘Description’.  The Label pointed to by (B) will change to that given in ‘Name’ on the next entry into the Policy Manager (For Netscope version 2.0.x first click on another traffic class in the left-hand list or click on ‘Check’).
